*mods...I was unable to find the correct forum so please move where is 'best' !

My mum just called to say that my grandfather who is living in a Sue Ryder nursing home is a little too stingy to put both bars of his electric heater on, and when I visited last weekend he had a towel over his legs to keep warm.

All I can really do from France is buy him a proper knee rug/throw/blanket but for all my Google powers I can't seem to find one that doesn't cost less than $150 and isn't mailed from the USA !

Does anyone know where I can order such an item on-line and have it delivered to Ireland (along with some electrical goods, Amazon don't deliver 'Home' items to Ireland).

Get him a pair of tights and see how he likes it.

Could get him a prostitute to sit on his lap for less than that!

    Get him a slanket!

Can he not just put a regular blanket on his knees?

Would getting him an electric blanket for his legs not be dangerous?

Just buy him a heavy blanket for his legs? Or a hotwater bottle (which might also be dangerous for someone old)?

A couple normal fleece blankets should do the trick. And they are easy to source too.
Get him some warm slippers too, if the feet are cold the body will freeze.

So did I until I tried to buy a netbook last December.

They do. He has a heater, he just doesn't believe in turning it on when he needs it (I'm told you turn funny when 88) :)

    Thanks for the suggestions !
