My iphone wouldn't come out of sleep mode for me earlier so i pressed the power button and home button until it restarted.
Everything was fine until i connected it to itunes to sync apps and music, after which it crashed twice before going off completely.
It then wouldn't turn on, it would get to apple screen and then crash but i eventually got it connected to itunes to restore it and it
crashed again in the middle of restore.
Now it wont let me do anything! Computer doesn't recognise it and it wont get past apple screen.

    Any ideas?

Only got it on 22nd of December!

Thanks deep1 but it seems to have come back to life.
I left it trying to switch on for about an hour and it eventually fired up.

Is there any way of finding out what caused it in the first place?

How do you know it crashed in the middle of the restore - did you get a message in iTunes? It can take quite a while if you've downloaded a lot of apps between syncs.

I'm getting a message saying itunes could not restore(9)!
Can't seem to find much about that code.

Can't seem to find much about that code.

    If Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

    If Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Delete files that end with a .ipsw.
and try again with the above DFU mode
or you could try from different computer.
