Is it personal judgement of the mods?

    In before the lock ?

Sometimes its for a good reason. Other times it gets a bit annoying when just deleting/editing the problemaic posts would be far better. Probably easier for the mods to lock though I wouldnt be too hard on them since (AFaIK) they dont get paid ?

That's what they want us to think. Let's just say it starts snowing for the mods as soon as they took up the job. ;)

Threads get locked for a number of reasons, mostly to do with a breach of the Charter. The thread may have ran it's course, one side says yes and the other says no so it just goes on in circles and posters end up getting angry with other. Other reasons would be if there is already a similar thread about already posted in this forum or another.

If a thread is deleted it is generally because someone has posted something libelous, subject to legal proceedings, infactually correct or in very rare cases at the request of the OP.

We generally try our best to give a reason for the closure of a thread, if one is not given all you need to do is PM a mod and ask why.

For problematic threads we generally do delete offensive posts or ones that we have had complaints about etc., you can't see them but they're there on most threads. Sometimes we're banging our heads against the wall deleting threads as another poster will comes along and post the very same thing 30 seconds later.

We prefer to not have to lock threads, and no we don't get paid.

remind me again, what is AH for?

A thread I started on another part of boards was deleted yesterday, it was deemed to have been in conflict with their policy or what-not.
    Fair enough.

A thread on that part of boards which I thought against their policy or what-not was deleted instead of being deleted, as I thought it should have been or at least moved.
That's why I posted this thread, my motivation, if you will.;)

There has been some legendary threads on here that have been deleted. Are mods still able to view deleted threads? If so any chance you could throw a few of the better ones into a forum like the thunderdome, for our viewing pleasure?

A thread such as this is against the Charter, however sometimes a mod will bend the rules to answer questions etc.

However when you use it as a platform to question the actions of mods on other fora the thread will get locked immediately. See the enbolded part of your post.

Yes the mods of the forum can see them unless the admins have deleted them.

We can't move any threads to the thunderdome as posters need to agree to post there.

OK this thread is finished now.

Any other questions feel free to PM a mod.
