Quick queston on installing OSX.

Does it install in the same way as windows and Linux operating systems (which are quite easy to install), or is there a difference?

I can install windows and Linux OS's blindfolded, but I have never even switched on a mac.
Serously. I tried to switch one on back in the mid 90's, but couldn't figure it out.

What I have here is an iMac which needs OSX reinstalled.
I have the disc. It's all ready to go, but I don't want to touch it before I am sure that I can do the install without screwing it up.

I don't mind messing up a pc because I usually experiment with old ones. If it doesn't work, I can learn from my mistakes without damaging any new equipment. I don't have an old Mac to mess around with though.

    1) Turn on Mac.
    2) Insert OS Install Disc and follow the on screen instructions and that's it.
    3) Honestly, that's it.

The on button is at the back. ;)

    Here's Apple's guide
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8177.html

The only decision you have to make is Archive and Install and Erase and Install but you're probably going to do an Erase and Install if you've backed up everything although I think archive can preserve your settings, never used it tbh.

no more choice in snow leopard. Archive and install is gone. And erase and install has been moved to disk utility.

To be honest, things like installing OS X is what makes Macs so desirable. Everything is so much easier.

yeah and unlike windows OSX doesn't need to be reinstalled several times a year. In fact unless something major goes wrong a reinstall is never really necessary.
