Wii not playing some games

First off if this in the wrong place sorry

I got a Wii for Christmas and played my Wii play in it no problem. Then I put in Wii Sports Resorts and now it won't play Wii Play or Brain Training. The disk shows up and you click into it and you can get as far as Play or Wii Menu on the screen But when you click play 12 grey boxes show up on screen and goes back to Wii Main menu.
The Wii SPorts Resource downloaded some sort of update into the Wii.

Any ideas how to fix it etc? It so annoying

Have you tried any other games? You could try updating the wii on the internet.
