I know a lot of people who have been waiting for this to drop to a decent price since it's release over 2 years ago!

    Buy it @ Amazon
In 1994, Star Trek had to take a backseat to a new kid on the block, science-fiction series Babylon 5, created by Michael Straczynski. In a nutshell, it's the 23rd Century and the Babylon 5 space station has become an interplanetary peaceful negotiation centre. Humans and aliens attempt to settle differences in a reasonable fashion here under the stewardship of President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner), which makes for some fantastical plot arcs throughout its five year run.
This stylishly compact yet comprehensive box set contains every Babylon 5 episode ever made, the series Crusade and all six Babylon 5 feature films with extras, plus the brand-new feature The Lost Tales, which has never been shown on television.

Brilliant show, picked this up around March last year.

Never seen it. Will I like it or will it just seem dated?

Big BSG/Stargate fan, quite like the various ST iterations too.

The show starts off with a TV movie, The Gathering which has a terrible soundtrack. The first season, the actors are a bit wooden. The story is still very strong, and after the first season the acting is a lot better. Has a fantastic story that runs from the start to its conclusion. It was basically designed as a novel for TV. Stracyzinski was inspired by things like Dune and the Foundation novels. I honestly have to say I prefer it to BSG. Haven't gotten around to going through Stargate yet, tbh but I intend to.

Edit: To clarify on the music thing, its a different person who does the music on The Gathering to everything else. Everything else is great. Fantastic score. Have the theme song as a potential ringtone, and swap to it now and then.

Thanks for that. BSG recently cemented itself as my all-time favourite show.

Maybe I should watch the Gathering before I make a decision.

Careful on that. I've known many people who needed to see a good bit more than that to really get into it, but once they did, they loved it. Again, caution on the music front. I think for me, I already could see from The Gathering that I was going to love it, but different strokes.

Just reading the 3 star reviews on Amazon (only a few) but it appears there is a problem with some of the episodes repeating on some discs and some episodes being left out as a result.

Don't know how wide scale it is. Problem for me would be that by the time I got around to finding this out my 30 days with Amazon or whatever would be over.

EDIT: The more reviews I read the more this seems to be an issue, dunno if it is the Amazon edition or what but I haven't seen anyone post a solution yet. It looks widescale.

I ordered that exact same one and didn't get that problem. But, then, obviously not all of them would have the problem. I think it works out that if you watch 3 hours every day you'd have it done in a month. Depending on free time, that can be very easy or impossible.

If I didn't like it then I wouldn't watch that much a day. If I did like it then I wouldn't want to ruin it by watching that much per day (law of diminishing returns and all that).

All the 3 and 4 star reviews seem to mention the problem but none of the 5-star ones do.
