    This guy built his own:

They do look very good, I don't have rollers myself but the whole feel of being fixed in place on a trainer is very very uncomfortable for me. Rollers would be a bit better but you are still fixed foward/aft unless you have one of these yokes.

    reading my mind !!!??? haha

been lookin at these for a while now... vry difficult to get a hold of and im sure customs will pop a nice tax on top before releasing them to you when they arrive in ireland !!

i ve had trainer in the past and its just disgusting to train on em !!

    i need rollers too...

there a re a few good sets available from CRC and cyclesuperstore do a set of tacx but obviously nowhere near as good for varied workouts as the insideride stuff !!!

Just wondering how rollers work as regards resistance compared to a turbo, most seem to come without a way of applying resistance. Are they as noisy as a turbo if they dont have the device applying resistance? thanks

I bought these last year http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31106
and converted them to free motion for very cheap (had most of the parts so it only cost me 10e)

If your interested i can explain in greater detail how to convert it on the cheap.

High-end ones, including the E-Motion, have a resistance unit. Yer man's home built ones even have a remote for the resistance!

I was keeping on the e-motion guys and crazy youtube builders too for the last year or so ... the e-motion ones are built to order and are crazy money and you then you need to add shipping from the US !
So it seems that either tacx or Elite seems to have either bought the patent or stole from e-motion and are doing their own version which will be available in Europe middle of this year !! Still stupid money though !!

So it's defo a build your self job for around €150 ?!?!?

so regular rollers (without resistance unit) just have a constant resistance depending on the type of drums used?

Building your own doesnt cost much at all. Though, it wont look as professional as the emotion it will be the same.

I will post up how i converted the TACX rollers in more detail tonight with some pictures etc. cost me around 10euro to convert as i had a few bits lying around so it was very cheap.
