Has anyone seen this happen before? is it the weather?

    Thanks,

It sound like something electrical.Your best bet it to get it scanned with a computer? It's kind of dangerous.Imagine if that happened and you were driving at high speed on a motorway?

Sounds like your alternator is not charging
(frozen brushes not contacting the armature)
and / or the battery is not charging properly.

Find and gently or medium tap the alternator
to reseat the brushes down on the rotating armature.

Batterys that are marginal are freezing in this weather, only cure ?
A new battery in this weather.

Make sure the red battery charging light is not on too.

Lights,c/clocking,wipers etc are controled by the bsi on all 407's....
i'd guess there will be no fault codes found but it maybe worth checking
    anyway.....:)

if it happens again it maybe worth try a bsi reboot...
    This may help....
    http://www.petercoopercarrepairs.co.uk/peugeot_bsi_reboot_procedure.htm

if that doesnt cure it its a matter of checking what bsi says with a
    good diagnostic tool...e.g. planet
    Ron.

Some helpfull info here also... www.407owners.com/forums

just got another warning about a "depollution system failure" i take it that this caused the power outtage etc?

the car does the pollen thing automatically. Ours stopped working and cost a 100 odd i think to get fixed about a year or two ago.

The "depollution system failure" is basically the mil light on the 407's which is
normally engine related...What have you got 1.6 hdi/20hdi...??

You will need to get fault read to find out whats bringing on the
"depollution system failure" error...where are you based and maybe some of the members maybe able help you out with getting your fault code read...:)
