Added to an already solid back catalog, here were some Sony exclusives that I could get behind – and they felt characteristically PlayStation.

This was kinda what made me get a ps3. Theres just something right about the playstation. Can't explain it at all, but it just seems nicer or something. This is helped in no small part by games like uncharted being like gears of war, 3rd person, get into cover, shoot. But having character and seeming much more fun and friendly. The 360 is pretty much shooters and little else. And before anyone cries fanboy, I only got a ps3 at christmas, and only because I'd sort of exhausted what I liked on 360, of which there was a lot.

The point about the xbox sounding like it was struggling to play games is the other reason.

The price had to be right, too, and Sony finally listened to the market and slashed the PS3's price, released a redesigned machine as well as simplified its crazy collection of consoles, all in one fell swoop.

It's a pretty crap article, but this highlights it. Sony had two different skus available before the released the slim. Hardly crazy, sure they still have two different skus. Hell, even microsoft have 2 or 3 different skus. Plus this whole nonsense about not being able to wrap his head around playing FF on the 360. What the fúck, it's a plastic box, not some complex piece of alien technology.

To save anyone else reading the article. His xbox breaks too much and that pissed him off. Then sony dropped the price of the ps3 and managed to get a few go od exclusives so he bought a ps3. The thought of playing final fantasy on a 360 makes him feel confused and scared.

There was a good few more than two around before the slim. There was the 20gb and 80gb US models with full PS2 BC, a 60gb EU model with emulated PS2 BC. Then the 40gb model came along without PS2 BC, no memory card reader and 2 less USB ports, followed by an 80gb version of the same model. The US had something similar with a 160gb version of the same model with PS2 BC gone.

Then the slim sku's came along.

Final Fantasy belongs as an exclusive for Sony as much as it belonged as an exclusive for Nintendo originally. I don't really care what platform the game is on, I only care that the game is good.

My only worry is that, like with a lot of multi-platform releases, PS3 owners are going to get the red-headed-step-child version of the game. A game that has been optimized for the 360 then ported to the PS3.

Sounds more like an article for potential PS3 owners rather than people who have already bought a PS3.

I agree with him... Dear god i'm a fanboy :(

Have to say that Sony Exlusives compared to MS exclusives feel more... personal? To alot of you it may sound like BS but i just get the feeling from Sony exclusives (such as U2 and the pixeljunk series, not to mention LBP) that the team behind the game really really put everything they had into it, while MS exclusives just feel like they're in it for the $$$, i'm looking at you Epic >_>.

To reiterate, may sound like BS to alot of you but i'm sure that some people agree with me :pac:

However when in the artile he starts going on about FFXIII going to the 360 he simply sounds like a whining idiot, same game, same development team, same experience. And tbh i wouldn't be suprised if the 360 version performs better than the PS one.

Fodder for fanboys i say! Who cares what console you have as long as your happy with your lot. One thing i will say is that nostalgia can play a role in what console you choose. I went from the Megadrive to the Playstation and grew up with GTA, MGS and Final Fantasy. I own a 360 primarily to play Gear of War and if i had the choice i would purchase PS3 versions of my most loved games.

The PS3 gets a really hard time for this perceived "lack of games". I couldnt disagree more.

Yes, but all of those bar the 80GB and 160GB had been discontinued at the time the slim was released (I think even the 160GB was discontinued then but I could be wrong) so if you went into a shop it would be rare to see anything other than an 80GB or 160GB. So sony went from having 2 models available (maybe one depending on if the 160GB was discontinued or not and if they were still readily available even if they were discontinued) to having 2 models available. If he was talking about total different skus then surely he would have said added to their crazy collection of consoles as they released an additional 2 models.

Same here. I don't mind if they develop for the 360 and do a good port of the game but if they do a crap, shoddy port it'll piss me off.

Am I the only one that can see IGN's quality in writing dropping at a sever rate. This article stinks of fanboys, and I wouldn't put it past the author to have written it just to garner some attention.

He spends a whole paragraph going on about how un-cool microsoft are and another paragraph going on about how cool the PS3 is. So, I can't see where you are getting the fanboy thing from. :D
