    Hi Guys

Im trying to decide which is better to get from a cost point of view. I provide a services but I'm looking to get a virtual terminal.

A world pay account or an virtual terminal with Aib and Realex to process the payments. Also does world pay still take 8 weeks to lodge the money into your account or has that changed.

    Cheers

Personally I'd recommend the Realex/AIB combination. Cheaper than Worldpay, Irish support where you get to talk to real people, plus the funds will be in your account the following day.

My website has pricing details for both Realex and RBS WorldPay.

Go with Realex, you'll be able to take Laser Cards

    Just on the Laser aspect:

How vital is Laser when selling online in Ireland?

I think I would be correct in saying that to accept Laser you by and large would need an IMA with a bank based in ROI or are there some in the UK who would offer Laser?

I ask as our business when online will have a market but in ROI, UK and NI. Therefore all the UK debit cards such as solo/switch/maestro are very important BUT Laser is a very good USP as none of our likely competitors from mainland UK offer this service.

I was interested in UK merchant accounts in case there was a better choice and therefore a better package than one would receive here in Ireland.

Depends on what your selling, B2C it's important in my opinion

Most people have Laser now, so I would say very important.

If you're new to this, have a look at Feepay.ie - they run it through Realex as far as I know. They do a pay as you go service. Can't vouch for quality, but looks like a viable option. Tell them I sent you! :P

Just on the UK debit cards. I came across a situation where the AIB/Realex combination required that you have a registered address in the UK in order to join the Switch/Solo scheme....

Didn't end up going with the UK option at the time but I don't believe the same issue would have arose with World Pay from conversations I had.

Personally I think Laser is very important if trading in Ireland

Thanks mate. That's pretty ridiculous as switch/solo could have the same level of significance in the UK as Laser does in Ireland.

I know M&S in the north take Laser but they are not your typical SME business!:)

I wonder if some co's have two merchant accounts just to get acceptance of all the cards they require?

Just for the OP and info gathered from Podgeen's site www.webpayments.ie - has anyone ever used paypoint.net?

I think Realex are excellent and have a very complete suite or services but compared with paypoint.net they are quite light on services.

We would like to offer every customer as many viable options for payment as possible and with paypoint you appear to get that.

I also saw when on their site that they are marginally better value than Realex on transaction charges.

My only issue with paypoint is I know very little about them.

Does anyone have any experience with paypoint?

    Go with Realex.

You'll get your funds immediately and you won't have to deal with WorldPay moving the goalposts ..
