Im buying an iPhone from a friend.. who will unlock it and jailbreak it?
It is a contract bill phone, can I switch it to Pay As You Go or will i have to jailbreak and unlock?

The phone has no effect on the pay type eg. pre pay or post pay.

for example if its an O2 contract phone, you can just throw in an o2 pay as you go sim..

Buying an O2 phone allows you to put either an O2 bill pay or an O2 pre pay SIM into it.
Jailbreaking the phone allows you to put any network bill pay or pre pay SIM into it.

If you want to use an O2 SIM in the iPhone, don't Jailbreak it, you will not be able to get updates and such easily.
