Thoughts on Dark Void demo on PSN

Just after playing the demo which is now up on PSN, very short but I have to say I enjoyed it. The mix of air and ground combat is great and the control system is very user friendly, if the Ironman game was like this it would of been a great hit in my opinion.

From the looks of the demo it will be a must for most people and has a bit for both people that like FPS and air combat games, I for one will be purchasing this when it comes out

If you like Halo I rekon you'll like this.

It was ok, nothing spectacular but combat was quite solid. Graphics were a bit iffy, but could be chalked up to demo-ism. Pity there was none of the vertical combat (fighting up and down cliffsides) they were hyping about before.

Probably give it a skip, what with the arse ton of other games out. If I find in a bargain bin, will pick it up.

i was hoping to see the vertical combat to, i thought it was the main selling point of the game. overall the game is average and going by the demo i wont be buying.

Didn't like it at all. Controls and movement in the air are slow and awkward. Seems incredibly dull

Some nice bits (like the special air tricks, first take off) but it is going to be a busy couple of months for gaming, and nothing in this demo seemed particularly exciting. Didn't like the robot enemies (took way too many shots to kill!) in particular. Plus I just couldn't stop thinking "why does ****ty haircut Nathan Drake have a jetpack" ;)

I am not sold on this. Controls were not good

This game's only coming out now? Jesus i remember seeing clips of it on some game show about 2 years ago.

Looked pretty crappy back then too.

I didn't like it at all. Didn't like the controls either, found it very fiddly, especially the evasive manouver controls. A big fat 'meh' from me, especially with so many good (potentially) games coming out over the next few months.

I would rather eat my own face then pay anything over a tenner for this game. Kotaku had a video this morning where it looks like your shooting a water pistol at the Geth from Mass Effect. Jet Pack missions in San Andreas FTW!!

Reminded me of my first impressions of the Fracture demo. I remember telling myself "the full game may be better". It wasn't.

This looks decidedly a 6.5/10, will probably give it a shot, but it's way down on my list of games to play atm.

The flight mechanics are also god awful, half the time I could either not see my reticule because it was the same colour as the sky (wtf???) or I'd lock on to the enemy only to, not really lock on, just have my character look in the enemies direction, what followed had to be the worst attempt to get used to those horrible controls, trying to line up my crosshairs with the crosshairs of where my character was looking.

The ground combat was also decidedly average, and graphically it's trying to do nothing new and it suffers from being released in the wake of Uncharted 2 which makes the levels look bland, flat and empty.

Demo was very short so its hard to get an idea, not too impressed the combat reminded me of mass effect combat. I think it could get confussing with emenies all over the place. The gun you start with is rubbish but i picked up an alien gun and that was much better.

Still wont rush to get it but might pick it up when its on sale in game for 24 euro 2 weeks after release then put it next to all the other "great deals" i bought and never played.

God its like nate strapped on a rocket pack, couldnt get away from the voice and turned it off very quickly into the demo. surely they should have altered the voice even slightly? even a few remarks sounded like they belonged in uncharted.
i know he does a lot of voices for different games, some i havent played and dont know if he sounds the same, others i probably havent even noticed, but i couldnt get past it in this game
