What bird was it?

    I saw it yesterday and once again I have no photo!

    It was puffed up and was close in size to a thrush but was a rich brown over with no markings on the chest.

    brown all over...thrush size... sounds like a female blackbird, which actually is a member of the thrush family (as is robin).

    size about like robin a little bit bigger maybe ,whole body grey and black top of the head?

    Was it a Dunnock by any chance? they don't feed from feeders much\at all, a little bit emo too, stay away from the rest of the birds, like lurking in side hedges.

    A bird I like.. some have great sliver like markings on the chest and off to the sides.

    It's a blackcap if he looks like this. The female has the same grey but has a rusty red/brown head.
