    Hey Guys,

I'm hoping you can help me out. Me and a group of fellow golfers (hackers) are planning heading off on a golf trip to the algarve in portugal, around march\april. All this cold weather has got us really peeved.

Has anyone here any experience of playing golf in the algarve and if so what would they recommend, with regards to courses, places to stay and nitelife. I have been looking at oceanico but would like to hear from experience.

I have been to spain for 3 years now, but never golfed in portugal so any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. If anyone wishes to pm, feel free.

    Cheers lads

i have played a for the last few yrs in villamoura. always in october though, so not sure of weather in march/april. the courses when we go are usually very busy, except for 09. the courses were really really quiet.
the courses we like in no particular order are
    old course
    the oconnor
    val d lobo - ocean
    quinta de lago
    villa sol

Algarve is the best of sun golf - March and April are perfect weatherise (18 - 25degC)

Vilamoura is the obvious place to stay (plenty of apartments, hotels and restuarants) and is a golf and family resort so not too many "3 lions" to be seen!

    Courses to play:
Vilamoura Old (one of the most enjoyable courses you'll ever play but can be difficult to get tee times on)
Victoria Vilamoura (Vilamoura's newest and best golf course)
Quinta do Lago (excellent 2 course - particularly South course)
Oceanico Faldo (too tough for high handicappers but great if your group is < 18)
Oceanico O'Connor (brilliant- Christy course in the sun!)
San Larenzo (best layout on the Algarve but we've been dissapointed in its condition over the last few years)
Vilamoura Millenium and Laguna (cheaper and not at the class of the above but still very enjoyable)

There's plenty more but chose any of the above and you can't go wrong. Golf in Portugal is more enjoyable than Spain - less money grabbing but often more expensive (if that makes sense). Maybe its just that the Portuguese are a nice bunch!

Book tee times through one of the internet agencies but talk to them to get best deals and times!

    We're going April and I can't wait!:)
