    this was always the way.
every 2nd game was to be made by infintiy ward.

I was figuring a WaW 2 by Treyarch, and then MW3 by IW. But, if it means they are going to come out with MW3 next, then I'll be more inclined to buy it rather than going with my intended skipping.

Whoever ends up making MW3 have big shoes to fill.

Well yeah but they kept Modern Warfare to themselves so far and only shipped out the WWII/non-modern games to Treyarch.

    So....this looks like the future:

    COD games - Treyarch
    MW games - Unnamed dev
new IP games??? - Infinity Ward

Gah, I really, really hope Treyarch aren't given the task of developing it, I'd be very much put off buying it if it's them.

Lets hope they continue on with the story and the Americans do invade Russia.

    CoD MMO maybe:

    http://www.destructoid.com/rumor-infinity-ward-developing-an-mmo-159813.phtml

Following on from today's rumor that Infinity Ward is working on a secret project and can't commit to Modern Warfare 3, some more gossip has found its way into our ears that might shed a little more light on the situation. According to our industry sources, Infinity Ward's new game will be an MMO.

We've gotten word that IW is hiring people from Sony Online Entertainment, one of which may be the lead designer of EverQuest II, and that a member of Blizzard employees may also be involved to help Infinity Ward get this new title off the ground. Our Intel seems to indicate that Call of Duty will continue as an annual franchise while IW runs this MMO alongside it.

It's not yet known if this MMO is based in the Call of Duty universe, although word of a CoD MMO has been floating around for a very long time. In any case, this is nothing but speculation at the moment, thought it's very interesting speculation indeed.

Could be fun if they attempted a full war simulation like ARMA but with a persistant battlefield.

    thats not true,
if they wana make it a better game,
all the need to do is put in dedicated servers,
and allow punkbuster as the anti cheat program.

them two simple changes will make the game a much bigger success.

That's online right? I'm sure pushtrak means single player?

People didn't like the story, it's credibility or longevity, expanding upon that would help its success, as well as online for some.

Jesus Treyarch did a fine job on WaW, its prob better then MW2....MW1 came a bit out of nowhere and was like no other FPS at the time and thats why its such a classic , similar to the 1st Halo game, and evey Modern Warfare game that follows will most likely never quiet reach its standing.

I never thought I'd say that but GREAT NEWS! Seen as I despise IW...

Yeah, I did mean the single player. The multiplayer is a nice addition, but if I can't enjoy a game without the need of playing against others, its a bad game. Of course, depending on quality of multiplayer, I would add a disclaimer of its quality.

As for MW2 story, I see its not the popular take on it, but I loved it. Bit short, and easier on Veteran than the first MW. Never did clear No Fighting in the War Room or the bonus mission on veteran. On MW2, I cleared everything on Veteran.

I always have to laugh by the criticism some people place on MW2. That its not realistic. Oh noes! What are we ever to do?

WaW is a load of cack and I still regret buying it to this day.

If they can provide dedicated servers for PC, they should be able to sort something out for PSN and XBL imo. P2P gaming is absolutely shite, I'd love to be given a list of running games with amount of players, map, ping etc and choose which to, or which not to, join. Along with the ability to filter the games lists for what I'm looking for.

The current system of "Find Game -> Bam here's a losing team go play with them" is beyond frustrating, it's downright retarded and with the amount of money MW1 and MW2 have pulled in, it wouldn't be much skin off their financial back to provide a decent online setup (at their own cost, or even perhaps a small yearly fee for server maintenance).

And yet people thought this wouldn't be a problem when they announced there would be no dedicated servers for MW2... Now the game is rife with cheating and it's practically impossible to find a decent game...

Just "Party up" with a few friends and you'll more than likely start a new "server". Had some epic games last nite with the Ground War rotation.
