    Hi All,

Any advice on what type of martial arts classes to send a 4 yr old boy to? Or can anyone recommend a good childrens club? We're based in Galway.
    Many Thanks

Most 4-year olds will find it hard to concentrate on ANY martial art, and in my experience they very often give up shortly after joining. So if YOU want him to join a martial art club look for one that's more about having fun then anything else, and when he's a bit older you can both look for a more serious sort of club.

    Happy New Year,

Hi Thanks for advice. hi Zen-i dont particularly want him to go at all, but most of the adults he is around in our family do kick boxing so i think it was enevitable he was going to take an interest in something.
We dont really want him doing kickboxing yet and he has said he would like to do karate. But i think karate to him is any type of fighting at all so he has no preference!!
Like you said kind of looking for something that would be fun etc as this is the first club he will join and really hoping he will enjoy it and stick with it for a while. He is 5 in April so hoping he is old enough...

I'm afraid the youngest we take kids is 10 years (Thanks Wayne;)) but I'd suggest trying Judo which is what I got my two lads to do when they were close to that age. Great fun for them and they were actually learning some very useful skills. Depending on what part of the city you're in, there are a number of excellant clubs with big numbers of juniors.

I missed this until now, being out of the office has that effect :)

I take kids form 5 years old, so he would probably be a bit small until next year.

At Point Blank we take a divergant route to some traditional martial arts, our classes tend to encourage children's creativity, using play to pass along the lessons. Children are taught the basics in Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Striking (basic punching and kicking)
