Is the application time not in september time? think the deadline is october or something.

Interviews are in November - deal with it first thing when you start final year (if not in final year).

eof I think your thinking of the milk round, which is for actual training contracts.

The OP is talking about internships. I don't know about this year but as far as I remeber last year the closing date was in march. The firms made a number of presentations after christmas in our college so info might be forthcoming over the next few weeks, presuming firms are continuing with the programmes this year.

Your best shot is to contact the HR in each of the bid4 - ask for the HR manager. The know all the dates.

I have gone on my own initiative and actually contacted the HR department of each of the BIG 4 companies , Its all happening in the next couple of weeks. Im hoping to get into one of them.

I hope the moderators don't mind me plugging myself here slightly , I would love the chance also to do a summer internship in any practice really I have y own transport and am in the 24/25 age bracket having achieved First class honors in first years and with a 2.1 average at the moment. If anyone has something at all please by all means let me know :-D

    Hey,

Just want to say that the internship is the best way to get a feeling of the work undretaken in an auditors. It lets you see the good (i.e. the fact that you get to gain an understanding of businessess) and the bad (i.e. the mundane elements of thejob).

I myself undertook an internship a few years ago and have now joined the company which I interned with.

As far as I can remember it opens up for applications in early February and interviews are held in late Feb/ early March with the offers being made in March.

If anybody has any questions about the interview and all that just send me a PM and I'll let you know.

    Nidot

Most of the applications for the internships will start around early february and interviews will take place at the end of feb/early march. I would keep checking the websites of the Big 4 for updates. I reckon it will be very competitive this year. I was on an internship last year but went to all interviews of the Big 4. It was hugely competitive with about 6 positions max available in each company. Therefore, I would advise you to prepare well. KPMG in fact took on no interns, anyone there for the summer was through a contact. Probably same this year.

The Global internship, from last year took two people. They reportedly had over 1000 applications. You must have international experience and top grades to even get by the application screening process. After that they wittled it down to 20 applicants and invited them in for a business exercise. Then it was down to 6 and they conducted 2 interviews and then just two people were selected. They spent four weeks in the Dublin offices in Audit/Advisory and then four weeks in San Francisco I think.

    Hope that helps!

Your probably too old for an internship. They dont think its wise to have temps in who happen to be older than the majority of full time trainees. Im sure you could get a summer bookkeeper job in a small practice though.

Could be true in general but does not stop them, when I was in my second year I was buddied with an interm who was about 26 and about 6'5 extremely active (thus thus built guy!)... im only 5'10 so was quite fun showing him what to do etc! he went and joined the army instead btw!

Is the internship 9 to 5. I have to study for the Cap1 exams in september as an external candidate, just wondering if I would have the time to do both.

Some people I work with are even in their early 30's and they're at my level as well.

I really don't think there's any age discrimination in the Big4.

Yep 9-5.30, 5 days a week. You could be asked to do overtime as well. Usually they last for 10-12 weeks but they are very flexible if you want to take a week off in the middle or at the end. You are entitled to 5 days paid leave during 12 week internship. But if you said you needed to study for CAP1's im sure they would totally understand and give you a week or two off at the end if thats what you wanted.

Does anyone have information on the interviews for Global Internship-what kind of questions will they ask? the format of the business exercise?

Also, anyone have an idea of the number of interns they take on in relation to the number they interview?

    Cheers
