I want one of these, but I'm wondering if I should hold off until Vodafone start selling them?

    http://comingsoon.vodafone.ie/iphone

I think they will start selling them in February. I'm with O2 and they're charging €199 for the 8Gb and €299 for the 16Gb - prices vary, but that's what it would cost me. If I thought that changing to Vodafone would cost me less, I'd hold on.

In short, will Vodafone start a price war?

    Thanks.

    D.

Doubt it. Apple usually control prices very carefully. The only differences will be what package the operators put together. For example, VF offer 2gb per month download, and O2 have 1gb. Both operators offer the phone for free on a €65pm contract

i hope so, but i doubt it.

Sometimes these prices might actually be set them slighter higher to get the people who really wanted the iphone, but wouldn't leave vodafone.
Then drop the price to competitive levels when the die hards have signed up at slightly over the odds. We'll just have to wait and see.

A duopoly does not competition make. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duopoly

No need for O2 or Voda to drop prices. They'll just have different features, addons etc.

Premium Good at a Premium Price. The price won't change!
