DF recruitment, laser eye surgery, min contract??

Was just wondering would somebody be able to explain how exactly the Defence Forces recruit? Am I correct in thinking that they take applications at all times throughout a year and will call you for a mass physical/medical test during a recruiting drive?

Do different Brigades recruit at different times or is it a nation wide recruitment?

Would anybody here have an educated guess at when the next recruitment drive could happen or has anybody serving heard rumours of when it could possibly happen?

If you make it through does anybody know the minimum contract?

Does anybody else think there is a good chance laser eye surgery will be allowed during the next recruitment as I read an article saying its under review?

No applications are being accepted at the moment. All applications on file are being returned to applicants with a letter stating that they may reapply once recruitment recommences.

Brigades are instructed on the number of recruits that they may take in and when.

Impossible to say when. The Minister has stated publicly however that there will be recruitment.

5 years PDF followed by 7 years RDF. Subject to fulfilling the necessary criteria you may be permitted to extend your PDF service.

Impossible to say. It is under review but until a decision is made it would be unwise for anyone to speculate.
