I'm not sure if its a specific model issue of not.

About two month ago, a squealing noise started to happen which is now becoming more frequent. I cant pinpoint to cause or source of the noise yet and wonder if the fellow boarders might have a better idea.

I noise usually occurs when the car is first started, after a downward gear change and pulling off. Usually the noise lasts for abt 20-30 seconds.

I went into the local garage today and they tightened one of the belts coming from the engine and say that should fix it but I noticed the noise again this afternoon.

The car changes gears without any problems but the clutch is a bit heavy on the foot.

    Any idea??
    Tks

sounds like a slipping belt. if its too worn it'll keep on slipping despite being tensioned. just get a new one, they're under €10.

The clutch thing is probably the release bearing. If this collapses it'll damage the clutch and both will need replacing. on the other hand, it'll cost the same in labour to replace the bearing as it would to replace the bearing and clutch.
