I heard yesterday that Koping was still in negotiations with Volvo with regards to getting the franchise back and no decision had been made yet.

I'm sure this has been discussed and is well known but sure I'll throw it out there again, you know that Koping was owned by one of the mooneys - as in EP Mooney? It was one of the sons, his name escapes me.

Anyway, they were a great bunch in there, when spirit fecked me over, they came to the rescue! Glad to see the staff rehired.

They couldnt when our place went under. They went on the creditors list with the liquidators but most of them never saw a penny.

Its great the jobs are saved but the reopening under the same brand seems like sharp practice...

Would it make you happier if they changed the name, and if so, why?

No. Its not about me being happy ?

Are you happy that most of the the small creditors will be screwed....

Of course not, not at all, but the new owners have absolutely nothing to do with that.

(and I was getting ratty with you, it was a genuine question!)

This wasn't the case with the likes of White Bishop and EP Mooney though. close down, leave people high and dry, reopen with no debts.

How can they get away with that? Were they also taken over by new owners?

They had debts of 22mil, then opened up a new company in the same sector as the old business out of the same premesis.

White Bishop moved premesis in fairness but changed name to Pat White Cars. he lost the Daihatsu and SEAT dealerships when White Bishop folded but magically got them again with his new venture.

I thought that if a director went into liquidation here that they couldn't be the director of another company?
    That's shockin!

A person can't but there's nothing stopping a wife or child being the "director" and him being an "employee" in all but name.
