Did anyone ever buy back an old classic that they sold in the past?

Yes... and I still have it. Though the agreement when I sold the car was that I'd get first refusal on its resale.

I had a '62 Vauxhall Victor that I sold many years ago to someone in West Cork. He had a minor crash with it and I eventually rebought and restored it. Got another few years out of it before selling it on Ebay. Only rebought it as I got it back cheap.

I had a MZ Simson I couldn't sell. After placing it in the Buy & Sell for weeks a woman from the US bought it from me. Three months later it appeared again in the driveway with the tax book and a thank you note saying that she was heading back to the states and was asking me could i move it on and keep what ever I made out of it. :p

You missed the 10'000th post. It took me 3 attempts, each time I reached 9999 someone would set it back to 9978

The official 10'000th post was in Comm & Transport and not CT or AH. :p

No. I once tracked a previous car down but it was knackered, managed to get the interior though.

However, I read a story in a german classic car mag a few years ago. This guy had a 1970's Merc, he owned it around the end of the 80's, he was the 5th owner. he knew fro mthe log book that the first owner was the german state, thats all. he sold the car after a couple of years, then around 2000 he recognised the car in a famous photo of a terrorist related incident. He rings the guy he sold it to, and the next two owners, rings the present owner up, says its his ex-car and she agrees to sell it to him for DM2000 (€1000). He then proved that it was the car in the photo to a car collector and he sold it to them for €6000 (IIRC). I think its this photo but I'm not 100% sure. I tried to dig the story up earlier today but I can't find it.
