    Hi, just wondering about the degree awarded after results for Arts.

    What I mean is, whats the level of percentage for 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2 etc. Is it:
    1.1 = 100% - 85
    1.2 = 85 - 75
    2.1 = 75 - 65
    2.2 = 65 - 55
    Pass = 55 - 40

    Also, if you fail a subject I know that you can only get up to 40% on that subject when you repeat it, but does it mean you can't qualify for a 2.2?

    If so, I'm ****ed.

    If you look in the Marks & Standards section of the NUI Galway site you'll see that it's:
    • 1.1 70%+
    • 2.1 60%-69%
    • 2.2 50%-59%
    • Third 45%-49%
    • Pass 40%-50%
    There is no 1.2. Also, Arts award the degree based on the average score across both subjects *but* they have a minimum score requirement for the lower subject for each level.

    I'm not sure of the rules regarding failed subjects and their impact on the degree result but it should be somewhere in the document available there. There is no 09/10 document for Arts available so there might be some minor changes not listed.

    If you're worried about a specific subject perhaps you should contact the faculty and ask them how it will affect your overall mark and award.
