As far as i know the books can change each year deoending on lecturers etc. i'm a first year and this is what we are using! For many subjects there will be a few books recommended you can use!

Tort: McMahon & Binchy, Law of Torts, (3rd ed, 2000) Tottel Publishing or
Quill, E., Torts in Ireland, (2004), Gill & Macmillan or
Healy, J., Principles of Irish Torts, (2006) Clarus Press

Contract: This year we were told to get. contract law book by Mindy Chen-Wishart.

Irish Legal Systems: Learning the law by Glanville Williams. but by exam time you will want, Byrne and McCutcheon on the Irish Legal System.

Accounting: Accounting - An Introduction by mclaney and atrill.

Economics: Economics by Mankiw & Taylor

MIS: Business Driven Information Systems: Baltzan and
    Phillips, McGraw-Hill

and thats about it, in 2nd semester we will be doing Legal methods and research and there is a book for that!

I did economics for the leaving and got an A1 in it! loved it, but i aint really liking it in college! and i don't think i have any advantage over others who had not done it in their leaving certs. everyone is in the same boat really!

My only accounting experience was from JC business. Did not do it in the leaving and i am feeling it now! in 1st yr you will be broken into two streams, A if you did Acc in the Lc and Stream B if you have not! i think there is a noticeable difference here, unlike economics, between those who did and did not do it in their leavings! but most of us who didnt do it are lost and do not enjoy it! now some people do and if you stick at it and go to ALL the accounting lectures you should be ok!!

ill pm you a message i sent someone else recently asking about the course!
