    Xenon HID 35w Vs 50w

What is the difference and/or which is the correct one for a projector headlamp setup?

Does the car have factory HIDs, or is this for an aftermarket kit?

    Aftermarket. Its an SE model.

My understanding is that the 50w will just be brighter. Whether this is a good thing depends I suppose on how well matched the aftermarket kit is to the existing headlight unit. Were it my car, i'd be looking for a pair of headlights from a car that had HIDs from the factory.

its to do with the current draw from the electrical system.

if you put a hid kit in a BMW for instance that has standard 55w H7 bulbs, then the hid kit drawing 35W will tell the ECU that you have a bulb out so a warning comes on the dash. but if you buy a 55W set of hids then it draws the same power as the standard halogen bulbs and your car doesnt throw a warning light.

Something similiar to Beam99's link here Just put in bulbs your looking for and the model etc in the Car Bulb Finder on the right.

Berty, has one or both of your HID's gone?

one of mine has gone and I have noticed a surprising number of threads about them and replacements the last few days on a few other forums, I wonder if they are adversely affected by the cold weather were having?

 Yes but conversation yesterday when something like

"Im sorry XXX but Im going to have to get this off my chest, the MPG this car will achieve is far too low to be sustainable as a company vehicle and although the MD said "ah sur' we will just claim back the tax" the amount of spondooles spent on the car will be crazy"
"Lets just say the Volvo is a great car BUT is only a temporary vehicle. The car will be reviewed in the near future"
    "When in the near future?"
"The near future is all I can say"

So now I have an FFV with one station in Limerick, one in Clare and none in Galway. Thats the area I cover FFS. It will barely do 500kms per tank.
