I got a pair of Specialized S Works BG road shoes a while ago but haven't worn them yet. Only got a single pair of (red) insoles in the box though. I'm wondering now if they should have come with the 3 sizes you got?

hi jimm, they were not extra insoles but socalled wedges that fit under the insoles at the forefoot each with varying thickness to alter the angle of the foot. don't know which ones to use.

I have those wedge things but they came with some new inner soles that I bought.
The Specialized stockists (larger ones anyway) have these little gadgets that you stand on to determine how high or low your arches are and then you're told which colour inners you should be using. The shoes themselves are built with a bit of a wedge inbuilt into them to correct a natural tendancy for your foot to roll inwards and the seperate wedges enable you to increase the height of that wedge although to be honest, unless your being fitted by someone with a good knowledge of cycling biomechanics then it's likely to be a matter of trial and error. I think they're meant to be particularly useful if you get pain on the inside of your knee (although you can flip them the other way for pain on the outside apparrently).

My Specialized BG MTB shoes came with only a single pair of insoles - you had to buy the other ones at about €35 a pair if you wanted them. The different colours correspond to different arch/foot types - 53 Degrees North (where I got mine) has a pressure plate to show you which ones to use.

I was recommended something different from what came with the shoes, but TBH the standard ones are so comfy I've never felt the need to change.

    Edit: what Greyspoke said...

I never got any with Spesh BG Pro Road Shoes either. Perhaps a US market perk.
