Hotels near Stade de France....

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if it breaks any rules, I read the stickys and couldn't find anything specific.

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a suitable hotel in and around the Stade De France in Paris, theres eight of us going over to a game later in the year and ideally we'd like something fairly clean and decent but not posh or expensive, hopefully walking distance to the ground but easy to get into town and to the airport etc.

Thanks in advance and feel free to delete if I'm breaking one of the rules....

Wouldn't advise staying in the vacinity of the stadium, it's not in a good area. You'd be much better off staying in the city and getting a metro out to St. Denis, the metro service is excellent. That's what I'd do anyway.

I stayed in a Best Western hotel (google for info) near Gare du Nord and got the metro to Stade on the day. It was a bit kippy but I was only sleeping there and it was clean.
You would be better off doing something similar as you'll have more access to town after the match. There are a few Irish pubs dotted around the city centre which are bound to be good fun after the match.

yup. you just need to remember to get two tickets as they dont do "returns". Tons of sign posting and if all else fails follow the crowd.

Was over there during the rugby world cup and the metros were running grand. I was in paris over the christmas break & stayed in the hotel Nord & Champagne located between gare du nord & gare l'est- it was basic but clean 67euro per night.

The bars stayed open very late after the france - ireland match so if i was you i'd be more concerned by the 6euro pints than price/quality of the hotel :)

Yea metro is your best bet. Stade de France isnt really in Paris. The metro stop is right outside the stadium and the authorities have a good system of filing people onto the metro, most people will be headed towards Paris after the match so just follow the crowd.

Line D as said before will get you to Gare du Nord and Chatelet (centre of Paris)

Best to buy an all day ticket and you can use that to travel around paris by metro for sightseeing as well.

Stay in the city centre. Much better atmosphere and everybody goes back to the there after the match. It can also be great craic getting the metro with Irish fans, singing songs etc. on the way to the match. My advice would be to stay as close to either Kitty O'Shea's Bar (sometimes the Irish team go drinking here afterwards) or O'Sullivans Bar. Both pubs are Irish and it is where the fans tend to drink in. Reason why I'm saying to stay as close to these is that you can always just walk home after they close late at night. Enjoy the trip.
