    hi there,
I wonder if someone can give me some advice.
I am 4.5 years in the same job and really fed up and want to leave.
I want to take a few months off just to recharge and probably go travelling.
My question is, when i return to ireland in, say 6 months time, if I get a new job great, but while I am looking would I be entitled to dole?
I currently have a good permanent job.
Thanks if you can give me some accurate info.

watch your stamps you are only entitled to 12 months before it becomes means tested , if you go away for 6 months you would have to make a fresh claim when you came back

check if you can take a career break ( as a way of not burning your bridges)

Yes you will get full dole. When you come back you are entitled to 52 weeks of Jobseekers Benefit. After that you will be means tested and moved onto Jobseekers Allowance - how much you receive on JA will depend on your means test. How do i know all this for definite - i just did a very similar thing to yourself. PM if you need more details.
