Problem- im on the pill yasminelle, just finished my second strip on saturday......today is wednesday and no period :( i never missed a pill and never took one outside the 12 hr window.....only worried cause my boyfriend and i never used a condom aswell.......stupid i know but if im ok this month, trust me we'll be using both from now on! and dont worry about std's, we are both each others first and only. Uh i'm just naturally worried sick even though they say the pill could upset my cycle.....I would appreciate some brutal honesty!

Sounds very unlikely to be honest. But there's only one thing to do to find out for sure and probably settle your mind- do a test. No one here can tell you for certain if you are pregnant or not.

    Hey Sweetie,

Ok first of all, calm down. It sounds to me like you used the pill correctly, the percentage of woman who get pregnant when using the pill correctly is 2%, so it really is incredibaly unlikely that you're pregnant. However, like the lady above says you need to do a test. "First Response" is the best, you can use it much sooner than other ones and it's accurate, it only costs approx E9 in the chemist. I know it's very embarrassing going in, but no one even looks at you and it's over in a flash. Go do the test and put your mind at rest (ha that rhymes!)

    Best of luck sweetie

    Hey my dear,

Don't panic. Go do a test put your mind at ease. I've been on the mini pill and haven't had my "lady friends" in four months. You should read up as much info as you can on your particular pill, as I find it helps to be educated on these things.

If you're on the combined pill then I'd agree with Sue as Yasminelle consists of Ethinylestradiol and Drospirenone which are quite common in modern contraceptives. A side effect of Drospirenone is tenderness and soreness in your breasts (often mistaken as a sign of pregnancy). We can't tell you if you're pregnant or not, what I can say is you're only after finishing your second strip so your body is most likely still adjusting to the routine the pill is giving your menstrual cycle. But to be sure you can continue taking your pill take a test before your next strip. If it comes out negative and you still have no period read the leaflet with your pill or ring your GP. As far as I know it's not uncommon for a girl to miss a period while starting out on the contraceptive pill, happened my ex a couple of times, and if you don't have a period by the time your next pill is due you can take the pill. Some women will even run into their next strip to avoid a period (meaning they don't take the 7 day break). Best option-Take a test.

    Hey Sweetie,

Just after reading the above posts. Please take a test before you continue the pill, I know it is very very very unlikely but it could coz complications if you are pregnant and continue to take the pill. The test is very cheap.

Thanks for ye're help so far, i really appreciate it. Ya i planned on doing a test anyway because its really worrying me.
Ok if i do get it between here and sunday, do i begin sunday as normal even if i still have my period?
And if the test is negative do i begin my strip sunday even if i havent had my period? Should i take a few tests even if the first is negative just to be sure?
    What brand?

I'd recommend either ClearBlue or FirstResponse, dearest isn't necessarily the best. Yes if the test/tests are negative continue with your prescription as normal otherwise you'll upset your routine and be back to square one of being unprotected. Same goes for getting your period late, don't wait 'til you're finished before taking your pill, if you're supposed to take it sunday then take it sunday, you're GP will tell you the same. My ex had numerous "one day periods" but her GP told her that unless she was pregnant she can continue taking her pill if her period wasn't finished by the time she was to start her next strip.

Your period when you're on the pill isn't a true, natural period; it's a fake one created by the hormones. There's no need to wait until you get/finish your period to start your new pack - taking them regularly and correctly will regulate your cycle, waiting around for your period to arrive will just mess up the new, artificial cycle even more.

If you've taken the pill correctly, don't fret - it's almost certainly the pill messing with your cycle that's delaying your period. Do a test to be sure, and continue your pills as normal :)

Im on Yasminelle, and I finish same day as you, and mine always starts on the Thursday morning. I used to start on a wednesday on my previous pill folowing the same days/routine. But I found that after takking Yasminelle, after a few packs and my body adjusted to it, the period moved to a Thursday.. Weird I know but it may be what is happening with you. Hope this helps a bit to reassure you... but as everyone else recommended, do a test if you are very worried...

You can fluctuate a bit between 3-4 days after stopping a strip IME so please try not to worry too much.

Do a test to put your mind at rest and, without wanting to sound preach-y, maybe stick to using condoms in future?

That way if one method fails, you always have a backup because I'm assuming that at 17 the sex is for fun and not for 'reproductive purposes' ;)

    Best of luck

Hi Im having a similar problem as this girl had. I ran 2 packs of yasminelle together fro the first time. I then got some breakthrough bleeding in the second week of the second packet. My gap week starts on wednesday. Today is Sunday and still no sign of my period, except very very light spotting. I have been sexually active. Should I be worried even though we used protection?? Help!

You really need to go speak to your GP/pharmacist about this, nobody here is allowed to give you medical advice ....
