Flights to Chicago in June

    Hey,

I'm going to a friends wedding in Chicago in June and looking at flights at the moment. Right now, Aer Lingus are up around €550 return. It's a bit cheaper to fly to Heathrow and then go with Virgin, about €525.
Does anyone know if these are good deals, or should the price of flights from Ireland to Chicago in June drop more?

How long is a piece of string?

If you're worrying about at €25 difference, then you probably can't afford to wait as they may get more expensive. Especially if you need to be there on certain days. Remember, June is peak travel time too.

On the other hand, it may get cheaper if the airlines flying find they can't sell enough seats. There may be a sale or a special offer. As it stands the €500 fare is roughly around the general Aer Lingus price for that route, especially as they have less flights going there than they had in the past (so less seats to sell, and less need to sell them cheaper)

My personal rule is if you think you've found a fare you can live with, book it. The prices may drop, but they may go up too - so why take a chance?

You might want to check out American Airlines too - they fly Dublin to Chicago :)

    Try British Airways.

Thanks for the advice. I might as well bite the bullet now rather than regretting it down the line...

Flew with AA on this route over Christmas. Onboard food and drink above Aer Lingus but on the downside it was a single aisle 757, no individual IFE and they ran out of potable water so no tea/coffee and jugs of water in the bathroom because of no water in the taps. The new 1hour sitting rule on approach into the US meant the aisle was completely clogged for about an hour before this. Pretty miserable conditions for 8.5 hours so if the fare is anywhere near AerLingus I would stick with them.

    Take a look here: http://www.skyscanner.ie/flights/dub/chia/june-2010/june-2010/cheapest-flights-per-day-to-chicago-from-dublin-in-june-2010.html?charttype=1

This site's pretty useful if you get the hang of searching which gives you fares outward and return for each day so you can mix and match for cheapest combination.
