    Hi there,
I wasn't sure where to put this so - the only home and garden subforums are diy etc. which I figured would mostly be men.

I think the people here would most likely know best!

I'm looking to buy a bunch of new towels and I was just wondering what peoples experiences are with certain brands etc.

I had a look in next and Dunnes and there towels were all fairly poor I think.

I am looking for soft towels, that dry your skin well and that also last and wear well.

    Any info appreciated.

    Thanks.

Go to the homeware section of a good department store like Arnotts or Clerys. Sales assistants there can advise you. As far as I know, towels also have a thread count like sheets do, so that can be a good indicator of quality.

Guineys seem to specialise in towel and bedding.

They seem to have really good quality stuff as well as the cheaper stuff

IMO you can't beat TK Maxx for towels. They have all the expensive designer ones you find in posh hotels at discount prices. They have a hugh variation of sizes and colors too.

I find Pennys towels great. Good absorption and they don't take half a week to dry.

However, I do use a whitening agent for each wash and it makes the towels much whiter and nicer than they first were.

I second that. I got Christy Towels in TK Maxx, good quality, wash well. It's the place I will go back to for towels., in future.

Marks and Spencer usually do good quality homeware at very reasonable prices

Yeah can second penneys ones, double the thickness of the Dunnes ones, cheap and very handy if your buying new towels for guests. Bought loads last year when I saw them with the good thick ones.

I recently bought lots of new towels in Arnotts bargain dept.

Really soft and great for drying you and keep their colour really well when washed.

Bamboo towels are the best but are more expensive http://www.giftedbynature.ie/products.php?cat=13

I bought some really dreadful towels in Arnotts bargain dept a couple of years ago - they were a beautiful colour but shed ALL OVER THE PLACE, even after 2 years!
