Changing Micra Headlight Bulb

    Hi guys,

I have an '03 Nissan Micra and one of the headlight bulbs went on me yesterday. Could anyone give me step by step instructions for how to change the bulb myself. Haven't done it before and don't want to break anything! Apparently the Nissan garage charges 1 hr labour just to put a bulb in!

    Thanks for the help! :D

Its usually in the manual that came with the car, how to change bulbs etc.

It's too easy to give an explanation for to be honest...

^ Were you sober when you made that helpful post?

So, is it just the normal routine then?:

    1. Peel off the rubber shroud,
    2. Release the metal spring-type catch,
    3. Disconnect the three-pronged plug from the bulb,
    4. Remove old bulb (note the orientation of the lugs),
    5. Insert new bulb (careful not to touch the glass at all),
    6. Insert plug,
    7. Re-attach spring catch,
    8. Re-attach shroud.

A small mirror might prove useful....

Yes I was. For someone who has all the answers, I'm surprised you forgot to tell the OP not to touch the bulb filament with their fingers to prevent compromising the life of the bulb, and how you also forgot to advise the OP to check the alignment and security of the bulb by carrying out two simple tests.

Ha Ha. When have I ever claimed to have 'all the answers'? I did advise not to touch the bulb glass (is the filament exposed??). I only posted that list because I was surprised by your unhelpful post - I mean, why did you even bother? I was surprised, tbh, because any of your previous posts I've read in Motors have generally been informative and useful.

The OP obviously didn't know how to proceed. When I bumped the thread originally I was unaware that it was an easy job on his particular car, as in some makes/models it can be difficult/awkward, and based on the dealer charging an hour's labour, I assumed that was the case. I was hoping that by bumping it, the OP might have a better chance of getting good advice.....

By the way, what are the two simple tests you mentioned for checking alignment? I have only ever fitted H4 bulbs.

I may be just a punter, but I do try to be a helpful one.
