Big 4 start dates

Myself and a few friends are starting in different big 4 firms in the Autumn. When can we expect to start or how do we find out? Would it be decided already/is it worth ringing them? Is it likely that people in tax will not start until november after the end of the tax year?

I have been told November 1st as a start date. I'll be going into audit.

Ring HR in each firm- they are very helpful people.
Expect to start around late Oct- start Nov
