    Well,an 1100 in 1977 was
    12mth £81
    6 mth £44.50
    3mth £22.50

    And in 1986 a 1600 cost
    12 mth £169
    6mth £93.00
    3mth £46.50

    And a 1litre in 1986 was
    12mths £68
    6mths £37
    3mths £18.50

Thats the best i can come up with.

Jaysus! £81 was a lotta scrill to stump up for, to tax a tiny car back then.

    Putting that into context.

    I started my working life in 1987 & I was on £80 a week.

I started in about 1995 on about £100 a week (damned accountants)!

Earning a year's car tax a week isn't too shabby these days either!

Yeah, it was. It was part off FF's 'giveaway our econemy' manifesto for the '77 election. It didn't include cars over 2ltr, however though...

FF. They always had our best interests at heart....bless...

FF; The party of the Gombeen. When will the Irish people ever learn?
