Similar situation i used to play in a band played a lot of original material coverd ac/dc, zepp, rory gallagher, hendrix most of it was bluesy stuff but the singer/other guitarist ran the show dont get me wrong they wer pretty good but I never got to play metallica , lizzy, zz top et al i would jus like t hav a jam batter out a bit o metal an if it sounds good stick with it the actual reason i got booted out of my old band was i refused to play funky town coz its gay an got a text the next day that i was out because my style was a bit too metal whatever the f*(k that means anywho get back too us an hopefully we could get somethin goin im 23 n based in north dublin

Nah mate im technologically retarded i can barely work this site i got a laptop for xmas an de only thing on it i can work is notes for guitar notes but eh my e-mail is fintan_duffy@hotmail.com giv us a shout on that an we can work somethin out id send u a number but the moderaters on this site cry if u put em up an if theres any songs u want me to look at let us know anyway taelk t ya soon

Do you think we just make up rules for the fun of it? That particular rule is for your own benefit. Think about it - would you scrawl your phone number somewhere anyone could just walk by and read it? This is a publicly accessible forum, anyone in the world could happen upon your phone number. If you really do want to exchange private information feel free to use the Private Messaging facility that's available.

Also please use more care with your posts. If you can spell words like "technologically" correctly surely you can spell words like "you" and "give".

Im sorry but that is not your concern to point out his spelling issues. For all you know he has dyslexia, and that he is unable to spell due to medical issues. Its proven that it is far easier for people to spell this way. That is very, very poor moderating right there.

I seem to have missed this post but I may as well respond to it now. If you have a problem with my moderating feel free to PM me so as not to clutter up this thread. I would certainly like you to back up your claim that it's easier for people to spell using txt speek.

As I said in my previous post, if he can spell words like "technologically" correct then he can most likely spell words like "you" and "give" correctly. I have spoken to other moderators about users with dyslexia as it is definitely something for us all to be aware of but dyslexia doesn't just cause you to leave out vowels in your words.

Its a problem that arises a lot. What damage does it do to you or the forum if he does use 'txt speek' as you so put it, whereas you returning the fact that he cant spell and raising the point is more destructive that constructive on all levels. Whether he chooses to spell this way should not be of your concern.
Perhaps he had to look up how to spell technologically or whatever, doesnt matter. It is offensive to raise the topic, and I really do think you should take more care when modding in this way.




Getting back on topic, got in contact with Duffman himself, and plan to throw a few things together next few weeks coming. If any bassist, another guitarist or singer is free, could be a bit of fun!

Txt speek promotes bad spelling and lazy typing. Why do you feel that's okay? How long does it take to just type "you" rather than "u" anyway?

Maybe he did and maybe he didn't. What drew my initial post was his dismissal of the charter rule about posting phone numbers. Boards.ie isn't a bastion of free speech. You have to obey the rules. Txt speek is frowned upon across all of the forums on here, not just Bands & Musicians.

As you say Duffman86 could be dyslexic. He could also just be a lazy typer who couldn't be bothered to preview his post before he submitted it. Given his most recent juvenile response it's quite clear to me which one he is.
