Don't use a saddle bag because they can get a bit gunky when it rains, I carry everything in my pockets (which should be sufficent and not adding unwanted extra weight).

    2. tube+CO2+2 levers fit in the back pocket
    3. vanity

I like the way you think ROK ON, if it starts to rain you can always put the condom around the cake so it stays dry or put some cream in the condom, shake well and you've got whipped cream, pierce the top of the condom to serve the cream in presentable little dolops for you and your entourage to enjoy. :)

Not keen on putting anything but food in my pockets for when I fall. Maybe a spare tube. On a mtb spin, saddle bag has

    *keys
    *phone/cash in plastic bag
    *quicklinks
    *spare tube
    *multitool
*torch if it's a long one.

Just to prove that if you have the space, you will fill it!

PS. There's a track pump in there somewhere.

I have a Topeak Aero Wedge in the small size. Probably the same 0.4L.

    7361-4.Jpg

    Tube
    Crank Bros Speed Lever
2x other tyre levers just in case
    Multitool
    3x zip ties
    Presta-schrader adapter
Brooks saddle cover in case it rains
    Small cable lock
    Park pre-glued patches
    Proper patches
    Vulcanising solution
    Tyre boot
    1/2 CO2 cannisters
    CO2 inflator
Smart 1/2 watt rear LED clipped on to back
    Oil

Pump goes in the jersey pocket

You should consider getting a cycling jersey with 3 rear pockets, they are very very handy. Rain jacket and food goes in there along with wallet, keys, phone, camera, etc.

Saddle bag, what's a saddle bag?

I make do with the three back pockets on my top. That's enough room for three metal tyre levers, two inner tubes, a tiny repair kit, a rain coat and a packets worth of Fig Rolls which are kept in the right hand pocket away from the tools. If I had a bag I'd only want to fill it with stuff that wouldn't see the light of day.

How often do you use the cash and the cake....... ?:D

    tyre levers
    2 tubes
    multi tool
    puncture repair kit
    bike spanner
2 pairs surgical gloves (I'm a public servant so obviously I don't like getting the hands dirty:D)

I recently got a small bag for the crossbar from CRC (not used yet) and intend to use it for the cash, bars (stop them getting squashed) and mobile.

back pockets now for jelly babies, gilet and lightweight reflective jacket.

    tube
2 levers (mostly for symetry ;))

its basically thr size of a tightly wrapped tube...compact and un-noticable 0.07l id say

and if Im feeling really unlucky a patch kit in pocket.

No saddle bag for me. It all goes in the pockets. On rare occasions I will affix one, but I don't like it!

    (For MTB)
    A shed-load of stuff - all fitted into a tiny 8 l pack
    2 l water
Multitool, tube, repair kit and levers
    Mini-pump and shock-pump
    First aid kit
    Batteries for the GPS
    Ham and chees sandwiches
Jelly babies, fig rolls or ginger cake
    Money
    Keys
    Zip-ties and electrical tape
In cold weather a fleece and flask of hot-chocolate

If it doesn't fit in the bag, it's not taken! The bag is held together with tape and zipties but I can't find another as small....and if I get a bigger bag I'll just take more

    Here

I have one too, never actually used it but is handy to have in case you need to top off tyre pressure in the nearest garage or petrol station! ;)

I've a small saddle bag to make sure I don't forget stuff - I went out once without a spare tube and needless to say you can guess what happened.

Bag has spare tube, levers, adapter (if I'm "luck" enough to puncture near a petrol station), multi-tool and tyre boot.

Waterproof stowaway jacket goes in left pocket of jersey - pump, phone & keys go in middle pocket - jellies and biscuits go in the right pocket. The jersey also has a small zip pocket so I usually stick a 20 euro note & my laser card in there.

Of course, in this weather, the jacket has another 3 pockets - but I don't particularly need them - have used them to carry a file or two home from work!!

About any local bike shop will stock them either, I think mine was €1.50.

just threw some zip ties and an adaptor in mine!

For a racer: i used a bag for the first year but because i didn't have a mudguard my multitool didn't take to well to the rain and neither did the zip on the bag. since then i've just zip locked stuff in a plastic bag. i usually have two spare tubes, tyre levers, a power gel, money, some form of ID (god forbid), phone, food depending on the distance of the spin, bike pump is attached to the bike. All this fits neatly in my jersey pockets. happy-days!

I had my gear cable snap on the Sean Kelly, left me with a choice between 34-12 and 50-12 (15 after I fiddled with the limit screws at the bottom of Mahon Falls.) If you have a 10L pack on the bike anyway I can think of more pointless things to put in it.

I used to carry a lot but every year I seem to need less and less... I usually use a small one just for tubes and tools and all else is in the pockets though on long spins I use a larger expandable one (Lidl 2006 I think) which would nearly hold a second bike, MTB I use a back pack.

It's a legacy of driving 20-year old Saabs. I carry a toolbox in the boot at all times (and the occasional spare part though they're kept so well that they never break down on the roadside). I guess that just extended to the bike.

I don't have BB, cassette or spoke tools on board but I could prolly manage any other mechanical task on the roadside. I even have a set of brake pads in there somewhere...
