ZX Spectrum repair options/locations?

    Hi there.

    Have an old Spectrum that I would like to fix up. ....goes to snow on the TV screen after about 2 min of operation.

    Anywhere here in Dublin that might be able to fix it? Long shot, but would be cool to get it working again.

    Have you tried a different RF lead? Sounds like interferance being picked up.

    doubt if theres anywhere in ireland would fix it,join up the world of spectrum website and post your question there,they are experts over there,what model is it by the way?

    Thanks for the input folks.

    Its a 48k but cannot remember which year now. Still in the original box...:)

    Tried the different cable but no use. Seems like when it gets warmed up, some component inside goes on the blink.

    Sounds like the sort of thing an experiences electronics engineer could sort out, checking the board during the problem with a multimeter, knowing where to check, that sort of thing.
    There used to be a place on Parnell street back in the day that fixed consoles and such, not sure if they are still around.
    As the above poster said, go to one of the Spectrum forums, they may be able to give you a good idea of the affected component, then get a guy with a soldering iron to swap it out for a new one.
    Other than that, consign it to the spares box and buy a working one.
