    Hi,

    My application for JSA has just been approved after a long two month or so wait. I have to collect my payment this week.
    I've heard that for the weeks you were waiting you get payment from in a lump sum.
    Is that true or does it depend on circumstances?
    Should you receive this on the first day you claim?

    I knew someone who was in the same situation as yourself and they got a cheque for a lump sum, which was backdated. Then they just got the usual amount in the post office after that.

    I had to wait 6 months to collect my dole and when I went into the post office I got everything backdated. It feels so good to hear " I just have to go in the back to get some more fifty euro notes."
