    Hi Guys,

looking at getting a diesel 4x4 and trying to find out how much road tax would be on various models, but when i look it up on the government website there doesn't seem to be a petrol/diesel split. I did think diesel was cheaper was i wrong? :o

Yes you are wrong I'm afraid.

Diesels tended to become cheaper in July 08 due to the fact they generally have lower c02 emissions - but based on CC they are taxed the same

July is correct. Vehicles registered between Jan and July are only Co2 based if cheaper than CC.
