Went lamping last night, left early around 9:20pm. Got 1 fox at around 10pm about 170 meters with the red lense on my lightforce 170 :), then carried on calling with my home made sqeeker (cut down dog toy) around 10:15 two eyes poped up infront of me around 100 meter out. These were very close together and with the lamp they were bright red(fcuking evil looking). The foxes eyes always seem kinda green but these were bright red, the body was behind some rushes, so I could not make it out. What happened next???? the fuse on the battery pack blew and left me in total darkness.

    Mink???

could be I've seen one in the area a few months ago. But it was beside a drainage ditch and I've seen mink in the area too.

Fuse is sorted and I'll be back for him tonight ;)

il take a pic of this lad in the freezer later when the girl friend is not about ,well thats if we get out with the snow.
there is a few bags in the bottom of the freezer she should not look into.

the nite i brought it home ,the cat was eating on the back porch i left pine martin just behind him.
i walked away about a minute later the cat lifted its head and smelt the air and looked around .
he almost went through the fxxxxx patio door window,i did not see the cat until the next nite.

There's a white spot on the Pine Martin, at the bottom of his neck along the throat. That'll be a dead give away if you're looking at him through the scope, I think the mink are a good bit smaller too.

I picked one up on the road one time, didn't even know they were around me, lovely looking creature, I rang the taxidermist but was a bit too expensive so I gave him to the local ranger, he said they often get people doing studies on them and stuff.

That said is amazing what eye's will shine up at night especially if you're looking through the scope, I've seen birds eyes before, from plover and snipe that'd be sitting in the grass.

I've seen a live one on my drive and a dead one on the main road outside the house(pine martin ), I seen a mink in the field next to me, I have rabbits living in the garden and have had a regular foxy visitor as many will remember ( http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055619544 :D) , I also have red squirells in the oak trees along the front of the house. Now all I'm missing is the wild boar - oh yes I like the idea of them ;):D

they can vary in look from black with a white chest to brown with a white chest to a mixture of brown black with a white chest

unfortunately our club is riddled with them and mink its prime hunting and living ground for them
