Went to open the petrol cap on my car. It opened but the lever came loose and will not open it again. It's a st202 celica, has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?

Its definitely the lever thats the problem is it? My petrol cap on my Levin wouldn't open when the lever was pulled before and it was the spring on the cap itself that was the problem.

    Most likely:
The inner cable is frozen in the outer cable sheath or the mech is frozen with water on the cap lock proper.
Solution: Lubricate the mechanism with wd-40 and De_icer fluid
at the fuel cap a few times in the next days and it may rectify it's self.

Least likely.:The inner cable may be rusted and it has seized.
Push WD-40 down the cable using the little red straw to guide it
into the cable end and it will free out in the fullness of time.

removing the trim panel in the boot may tell you more. the cable assembly may have come off the body. Seen it happen on a few Avensis's

It was too cold out to be bothered looking at it. I just left it into a garage. The cable had seized and he oiled it up for me. Seems fine now.
