    Hi
We were thinking of buying modular wardrobes in B and Q. They have a sale on at the moment which seems quite good. I have no real clue about their reputation in this area.
Does anyone have an opinion on their price and quality of product.

price i have found reasonable, quality is shoddy and delivery even worse...I had to wait months between getting the original shipment and getting the rest of the wardrobes to be able to finish building it and got no satisfaction from the staff at all who care not one jot.

Good suggestion and I would definitely second that.

Do Ikea have anymore Wardrobes than that shown on the website. They don't quite suit what I need.

They have a modular interior with 20 or so finishes for doors I think..

I think you have to dig a bit to see all the styles... the choices for shelves, rack, poles etc is amazing.

Hi there - i'd definitely agree that the IKEA ones are far better. And they have much better stock supplies. I'm a carpenter so that's my honest professional opinion. You really cant go wrong with IKEA for good quality and their stuff is affordable. It stays together too - no falling apart if the kids jump over the furniture!

    Hope that helps.

I bought a 2m x2.36 unit with sliding glass doors including fittings for €430 last Sunday from IKEA, delivered monday (€50), wife moved into it tuesday evening after a day's slog by yours truely. Quite happy with the results. Directions are all graphics, no text but take your time to read them and you'll figure it out. She's happy - I'm happy.

Agreed... I used to live near IKEA in the UK. It's great stuff, don't listen to the brand snobs.

Is the B & Q stuff bad or is it that the IKEA stuff is just better?

I put together 4 B&Q double wardrobes over Christmas. Delivery took something like 2 months which is v.poor but at least they told me up front & it was free. I found the quality good & the instructions easy to follow. Assembly took a lot of time due to the volume I had ordered & the number of drawers, accessories etc.
I thought they were good value @ half price. I think I paid around 1050 for 4 doubles with vanilla gloss doors, chrome handles, fold out mirror, 6 x external drawers, 2 x internal drawers with glass shelves, trouser & tie racks and surrounding trim for the whole lot.
The carcasses are chipboard with mdf fronts.

We are thinking of getting something similar, including the vanilla doors.
We were also told it could take some time to deliver. Does it come by ordinary courier or is it B&Q themselves who deliver. I know it comes from the UK.

IKEA's wardrobes seem to be a little more basic but it is hard to tell from the website.

Kitchenfitters.ie pm me offering themselves as an alternative. Anybody know anything about them?
I am always wary about these kinds of websites etc but their address seems to be real according to google earth.

I think it came by an independent courier, if I recall correctly the guys mentioned they had come from Cork.
They were very careful though, nothing was damaged & I wasn't missing so much as a single screw.
If you're ordering a few units bear in mind the space youll need.
I received something like 37 individual boxes & they took up a lot of room until I got around to the assembly.
The only thing I felt the unit were lacking was soft close drawers / doors but I'll probably retrofit blum dampers myself.

I have a B&Q kitchen and an Ikea wardrobe and on ballance I would say the Ikea stuff was better, not that there's anything wrong with my kitchen.

I agree... IKEA stuff is well designed.. even the 10 quid coffee tables are better than stuff you get for 75 quid at Arrowmount..

Took the plunge and ordered from B & Q anyway. We'll see how it goes

Got my B and Q wardrobe 3 weeks after ordering it. It took some time to put it together but I am very happy with how it turned out
