VRT Calculation

As you all know, the Revenue Commissioners give what seems to be a very specific calculation of the VRT applicable to a second hand car imported from say, Northern Ireland.
Is there any leeway on this figure when attending at your local vrt tax office to register, or do they take the actual figure as per the website? Can a scratch or dent on the bodywork make any difference and is there any other mitigating factors that can be applied?

The price on the VRT website is usually the price you will pay. It will not go down because of scratches or damage to a car, but may in fact go up if there are extras on the car such as leather etc....
