I'm looking to get back into golf and I'm trying to find some way of doing it in the Ennis area without having a car! I know of Ennis Golf Club but unfortunately they have little or no practice facilities. Does anyone know of anywhere else in the area?

Woodstock is the only other 18 hole course in Ennis - I'm assuming it's still open since the hotel closed. Otherwise you're looking at Shannon or Dromoland Castle

Although there is any amount of good courses in Clare, Woodstock is the only other club in Ennis town. It is still open (but obviously not now with the weather) - the course and hotel are separately owned (hotel is open again too). I'm a member there but it does not have practice facilities either, bar the small putting green. However, they have a smaller membership and you're much more likely to get a tee time and the course is rarely overrun with people as can be the case with Ennis from time to time. Woodstock is a nice course too, plenty of challenges.

Without a car you're sunk in relation to good practice facilities. There's a very good golf academy at Dromoland (15 minute drive) with a lovely driving range. Costs about €240-ish to join for the year plus whatever you spend on balls.
