Would I be crazy to buy a Saab now?

Hey all. A change of car has been forced upon me by my trusty steed giving up the ghost over the christmas so I have to go on the purchasing track. I'm looking for something nice to drive but nice on the pocket too.

I had originally thought of buying a 2008 A4 1.9 TD (The 140hp version) but it looks like that would be beyond the reaches of my recessionary pockets. Then I found that the 9-3 TTiD (180hp!) is running at about 2,000 to 3,000 pounds sterling less. It seems like very good value to me but needless to say I'd be a bit worried about Saab going bust - although I assume parts would still be available even if they did hit the wall.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated (even if it is telling me I'm a fool!).

Parts should be fine, as the engine and parts are from the GM parts bin, so if saab does not find any one to keep them going you still should not have any problem with parts.

They're great cars - I'm going to hold on to mine. Parts won't be a problem and if you can get it at a good enough price...

    hi godtabh

i get most of my parts ( saab 9-5) from German-french-Swedish (01-4606062) on the Nangor rd in Dublin . I believe they have a North-side branch as well . If they don't have it in they can source it from their other branches in England.

    hope this helps
