Going by the weatherman from NZ we will not get any dry weather until October next year apart from a dry 2 weeks end of June start of July. Not great for the harvest in 2010.

He was fairly spot on last summer. The forecast that he gave for December is that it would stop raining around mid Dec and we would get a bit of rain again around the end of Dec, which is what happened. I didn't hear any forecast from him for Jan 2010.

He predicted that there would be 3 - 4 cold days after Stephens day and that then the weather would turn mild and more or less rain until the end of Jan.....

He did not forsee the longest cold snap this country has experienced in 50 years......

Thought he was giving a cold first week then on to rain and back to cold for end of Jan. Anyway I think he's there or therabouts with his forecasting and have a lot more time for him than Met Eireann. Hope he's wrong with that summer forecast though!!

I'd try the bit of oats, we always grow some here.
This year's seed is home saved and seems grand just hope the frost hasn't checked it too much.
Main thing with oats would be to go with two goes of growth regulator and keep it standing. No big diease pressure with it and you'll have plenty of straw.
