Mark du Mosch makes his Irish debut on Saturday January 30th @ Lunar Disko. The space-house master from Rotterdam will be treating us to a DJ set full of electronic goodness, from obscure disco and italo records to synth soundtracks, and straight up Chicago and Detroit pumpers to rock the Mezz room!
Mark du Mosch is a DJ, producer and music-lover from Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He grew up in a family where music was always around him, his mother was a singer and his father had been a jazz musician for many years. Mark's brother was collecting records and listening to pirate radio stations in the early 80s, and this was something that really interested Mark, and it prompted him to start buying records too. Some years later, around 1989, Mark got into scratching records, followed by the art of mixing them, something he's been doing to this day.
Then in 1995 a friend brought him to the studio of David Spaans, an active producer of electronic music at that time, and now a very well known producer around Holland. Spaans had many pieces of vintage machines. They jammed for some hours and Mark was immediately hooked; within a month he had bought his first drum machine. From that moment on Mark started to write & produce music, while collecting equipment to build his own studio. He received help from David Spaans, who taught him about the technical side of things, and later, his friend Ces taught him valuable lessons about music theory.
After years of jamming and recording Mark made his debut release on Otto Koppius' Keynote label in 2006, followed a year later by a release on Moustache records, which is run by his close friend David Vunk. These releases have been followed by EP's on Moustache again, Syncom Data Records, and Lunar Disko Records. There is also an excellent upcoming release due on Cyber Dance very soon...
