Mail server codes - ?

Hey all,

This is a dumb request, but I'm setting up an Eircom mail account in Outlook on the brothers PC, He has thge account some years, but uses the web browser to view it.

He has a BT BB connection.

Anyone know of the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server for this mail account and ISP?

I thought the ISP had to be one of the incoming or outgoing mail server entries - my mistake!

Not a mistake - the support article is written for people connected to eircom.net who may need to send using a non eircom.net email account. If you try to send mail through mail1.eircom.net from BT's network, you should receive an error message.

TL;DR Use mail.iol.ie as your outgoing (SMTP) server

All the ISPs that I've dealt with are like this, they'll only process mail that's sent through their outgoing mail server. The mail can come in through any server you like. Probably something to stop them being used as spam.
