Owed wages from closed company

    Hi all,

    I was working for an agency on a short term contract. The employer wants the contract to end 25th Feb - ( I have been notified of my shifts). The agency has ceased trading, but still owes me 3 weeks wages (I have wage slips for 2 weeks, but not the most recent week).

    Another agency has taken over the client list and asked me to sign up with them to finish the contract with the employer. They are not taking responsibility for the owed wages. The 1st agency no longer has its phone lines and can only be contacted by email.........needless to say I am not getting any replies.

    Have I any hope of getting my wages (owed since 2nd week of Dec). My next shift is not till mid Jan.

    To make the matter worse I am still waiting for a means test for my JSA from when I started the contract in September. Been into the Social Welfare today and all they said was they would try and speed up the person doing the means tests (who is not based in my local office).

    Community welfare officer not available till 11th Jan.

    Thoughts?
