Problem with safari

    Hi,

My wife has an iphone and when she was browsing using Safari the folowing message popped up

Warning!!! You should install security software! Cyber Security is a good solution for your security, virus production and spyware remover."

She turned the phone straight off. It starts up fine when you turn it back on but as soon as you hit Safari the above message pops up again. There are 2 options "Cancel & OK". I tried hitting cancel but it has just locked up the whole Safari application.

Any ideas? cant seem to find anything on the net and we've asked her brother who has one but he hasn't come across anything similiar. She's only had the phone a week

I meant to ask, does the iphone require antivirus protection?

Have you tried doing a Restore through iTunes?

Look for Restore on the iPhone screen in iTunes when iPhone is connected...

No, no antivirus protection required as iPhone is a closed system, unless jailbroken of course

Any idea what site she was viewing?

It sounds like some weird proxy setting has been forced onto Safari?? Dont know if that can be done though..

and clear history, cache, and cookies

    cheers for the feedback.

When I went into safari I managed to hit the search bar before that page with the problem loaded and just put in google and up it came fine. It seems to be working ok now, maybe just a bogey site.

I cleared the cache, history & cookies anyway just for the sake of it. If it occurs again I might try the restore trough iTunes.

She was looking at a recipe website, dont know which one.

    Thanks again.
